About the Exhibition

Wolf to Woof: The Story of Dogs is the largest and most comprehensive traveling exhibition ever created to explore the history, biology, and evolution of dogs and their role in human societies.

The exhibit is divided into four sections, each featuring artifacts, photo murals, sculpted models of modern dog breeds, and dioramas of taxidermied wild canines (all ethically collected after natural death), along with interactive, hands-on components that bring key concepts to life. For example, visitors can enter the “howling area” to learn what dogs and wolves are communicating when they howl, test their own nose against a dog’s powerful sense of smell, and climb into an avalanche scene to experience what it’s like to be rescued by a search-and-rescue dog.

Section 1Dogs Come in All Shapes and Sizes

This section showcases the amazing variety of dogs and how their appearance has changed over time—both naturally and with the help of humans.

Section 2A Little Wolf in Every Dog

This section explores why dogs do what they do, and where their instincts echo or diverge from their wild ancestors.

Section 3Dogs Have Skills to Help Us

This section reveals how dogs put their talents to work for us—from an extraordinary sense of smell to the endurance to run for miles, dogs’ abilities have made human lives easier for thousands of years.

Section 4What Can We Do to Help Dogs?

This section explores the problems our modern world poses for dogs and what scientists, volunteers, and everyday people are doing to solve them.
