Envenomators: The Venomous Snakes of North America is designed to promote understanding and clarify the misunderstandings that much of the public has about this intriguing and beneficial group of animals.

Visitors encounter living dioramas, interactive stations, interpretive panels, and some of the most immersive snake exhibits ever put in front of a public audience.

Section 1

Snakes in World Mythology

Visitors encounter two stone walls bearing the symbols humankind has created throughout time to record its interaction with and response to snakes.

Section 2

Man and Snakes

Discusses the ancient beliefs and cultural relationships that many peoples have held through the centuries.

Section 3

Up Close with North America's Venomous Snakes

Focuses on the four types of venomous snakes native to North America: copperhead, cottonmouth, coral, and rattlesnake — through living dioramas, interactive stations, a suspension bridge over live rattlesnakes, and a rattlesnake winter den.

Section 4

Snake Anatomy and Physiology

Covers snake evolution and biology, featuring a 25-foot diamondback rattlesnake model kids can crawl through, a simulated bite station, and an infrared vision display.

Section 5

Snake Education

Dedicated to the realities of sharing the world with venomous snakes — turning fear into respect and understanding their role as beneficial creatures.
